It's that time again - the 919 needs an oil change. However, I am curious as to what the O'Reilly oil would do to the engine (Note: Like a Saab, the clutch (and maybe transmission) shares the same oil with the engine for those who didn't know.) I'm on the fence between the O'R oil ($13 per Gallon) vs the Pro GN4 oil from Honda ($20-23)gallon.

Any experience with the cheapo-oil?

If it's a simple vehicle and you buy the right weight of oil that is SAE certified, you're fine for daily driving. But in your case? If it was my money I'd spend the 10$ extra and get the honda oil. Having more components share that lubricant means I'd want the extra security from buying the oil meant for it for a minor cost increase.

as long as this is on the bottle there your good

*it is :]

difference in price varies with detergents and added wear additives, but as long as it meets SAE ratings. There are some motor oils "mineral oils" that dont have it. Golden State Motor Oil for one. While your there, check out their hotwheels, O'Reilly's sells Boulevard Cruisers

I work at an O'reilly, and I've used the oil in several of my projects...it works alright. It's essentially the same as Pennzoil or Quaker State, just without the branding.
